How To Create A Blog And Make Money Blogging?

Let me start it by saying that blogging is now a real profession. It is no more something that people do for hobby, or to make some extra pocket money, help out people or write up their minds out. It now is something people are making
money out of. And real money, in a very good weight either.
So for this blog, I couldn’t get any other idea in my mind other than beginning it with advises upon how to start a new blog and make money out of it.

So in this article, I’ll try to sum up almost everything that I think you need to have or purchase in order to create a money making blog. I’ll also try to bust some myths and explain some of the topics that confuse new bloggers too much and aren’t often clearly described by fellow bloggers.
In this article, I’ll explain topics like :
  1. Which platform to use for your new blog?
  2. Which niche to choose to make money fast and how to find profitable niche for your new blog?
  3. What are different kinds of traffic and how to get traffic the way you want.
  4. What is SEO and do you really need it?
  5. How do bloggers make money and which monetization trick should you choose?
And much more…
Let’s start by discussing which blogging platform is best for making money and pros and cons of choosing a certain blogging platform out.

Which blogging platform is the best?

Blogging platforms are basically web portals or CMS which help you in writing without being a tech expert or coder. These platforms ensure that to be a blogger, you do not need to be a developer. In fact, blogging never has that much to do with web development.
These blogging platform have a pre-defined and well structured posting system which help you in writing articles, arranging them using taxonomies, dates and formats, and keep track of analytic related to your blog.
So basically, blogging platforms make blogging as easier and typing a joke in wordpad. That’s it. Or writing a facebook post, or tweeting the way you just pooped. That’s all! Until you want to get into the big race. For that, well, we’ll see that too.
First of all, let me list some of the most popular blogging platforms that are being used these days around the world. Since, this list isn’t a very uncommon list, I must say that I’ve cited the information before providing and that this list of blogging platform is genuine and reliable.List of most popular blogging platforms :

  1. WordPress
  2. Tumblr
  3. Blogspot
  4. Medium
  5. Svbtle
  6. Livejournal
But should you be worrying about these? No, you shouldn’t. To start a blog, the first thing you need to do it to start, and the second thing you do it to write. For rest, there are a lot of reports that I can provide in order to prove that wordpress is better than blogger and for the reverse either. And if you are willing to choose a blogging platform rather than any other CMS, and want to make money using traditional methods, I’ll not ask you to think of any third ground to sow your seeds in. There are a lot of reasons one might get attracted to wordpress and get away of blogspot, but trust me, you really need not to bother about that.
What you need to think is that :
1. You create a blog, and,
2. You write.

New? Let’s choose blogger. Create a blog on blogger, it’s easy. For more, I am to write an article upon ‘How to create blog on blogspot the best way?’. Check that out, create a blog and then come back here to read ahead.
Already have it? Well, then let’s talk about the second topic.

Which Niche To Choose For A New Blog?

Now, if you are willing to choose wordpress ( Check out  – How to create a perfect wordpress blog? ), you might be needing a domain name for your website. How do you decide that?
Well, I say – Name it after your dad, or may be after your girlfriend, until your website is an affiliate website where you want to sell something and you don’t want your shop selling pizzas to be names as Black Cave, let’s choose the name wisely. And for that, let’s decide which niche you are going to get your blog set up for.
Here is a list of most popular blogging niches that make money easily on Internet these days :
  • Blogging Tips.
  • Gadgets.
  • Shopping deals and tricks.
  • Celebrity Gossips
  • Anything BOLD, SHOCKING And Sentimental.
Now, the first four ones are what you need to spend time and mind upon, but the fifth one is for which you just need to spend some good bucks, get some weird mind and read a bit about Scott DeLong ( He is OMG! ).
Basically, as much as I’ve noticed, people blog mostly about how to blog and why to blog, and so doesn’t matter which niche you choose, there are some answers you get only on either Shoutmeloud, Hongkiat or on other big tech blogs like these. And so this niche is one of the most popular and money making blogging niches on Internet.
If you are a new blogger, I’ll definitely ask you to be a reader of these blogs rather than being a writer for the same.
profitable blog niche - start a new blog
Before choosing the niche for your blog, find out these three things about yourself :
  • Why are you going to start blog?
  • What are you passionate about?
  • What do you love reading the most about?
These three answers shall help you in finding out what niche is best for you and doesn’t matter what you get the result as, let it be the niche of your blog – Movies? Card Tricks? Videos? Anything at all. Just let that be the niche of your blog and get a domain name suitable for that.
However, if you love doing researches and are ready to spend some time doing research and then write about a certain thing, you basically can start a blog upon one of these most profitable blogging niches. How To Blog Is Almost The Same As How To Write.
After having decided what niche you are willing to write for, just get your articles on the go. At this point, you need to be responsible for these three things :
  1. Write Long Articles.
  2. Write Quality Articles.
  3. Write Articles Consistently.
I have often come across suggestions that writing regularly isn’t that much of what you need to have a great blog, but trust me, even when I am not asking you to create ugly unreliable content farms, this one rule never fails until you try to mess up with Google or let me call it more frankly, start spamming! That big secret rule is  – More content, more traffic, more income!
So no matter what others say, write stuffs regularly. Relevant articles, longer articles, more articles.

Web Traffic – How To Get Traffic To A New Blog?

Now, when you’ve decided your niche and have written some articles, you surely want those articles to be read, rated and shared. So this is where you start bothering about the traffic (in case, you haven’t already begun getting that!). So here is a little bit of explanation about how blogs get traffic from various sources, what are different types of traffic and, how to get these traffics directed to your blog.
get visitors for blog, blogging quotes
Basically, if you’ll ask experts (which I am definitely not!), they’ll say that getting traffic isn’t a big deal, keeping your traffic is. Well, for that, we’ve already covered our asses! So now when you’ve already written some quality articles for your blog (if not, wait till I explain what a quality article is.), you are basically not asking visitors to come, have a look on your ads, and leave.
However, as an amateur blogger, I think that getting traffic to your new blog is a real pain in the… . And so, there definitely must be some secrets that they never tell us. Are there? Well, actually no. There is no such secret. What you need to do here is that decide between which kind of traffic you want for your blog :
  1. Traffic from social media?
  2. Traffic from search engines?
  3. Traffic from your parents and cousins?
  4. Traffic from bots?
  5. Traffic from ads?
Well, in case you are satisfied with the third and fourth type of traffic, kudos! You just got that. But if you are seriously striving for an awesome blog and are willing to get genuine traffic, think about the first two ones.

How to get traffic from Social media?

To get traffic from social media for your new blog, you need to be there. And by saying that, I mean you’ve to create your social presence. And let me add one more thing – even if you are willing to getorganic traffic i.e. keyword targeted traffic from search engines, being present on social media helps a lot. So create your social media accounts, pages for your blog, link them to your blog and prove their worth. Here’s how you can create a social presence of yours :
1. On Facebook, where you already are for sure, create a page for your blog as well as get into some groups of bloggers, SEO experts and freelance writersAsk them to review your blogsuggest you about improvements and see if they can write some quality guest posts for your blog.
This is how you get into the community of bloggers and which I think is way more helpful than you can imagine.

2. On Google Plus, create a page for your blog and link your blog to it for getting your ownership verified. Add ‘rel=publisher’ to the link of your G+ page that you put on your website’s social account section. If you’re using blogspot for your blog, you can easily share your posts automatically by applying suitable settings in the section – Blog Dashboad >> Google+ (in between the Comments and Stats section.)
Sharing on Google+ helps in a lot of way, which I’ll be talking about in a special post about that.
Join more Google Plus Communities and create connections with like-minded people.
3. Get on Linkedin, if you’re not still. This is where professional people are and meet. Grow your connections and use it just the way you use Facebook. Share your professional views, talk to people and share links to your articles there.

4. Bookmark your blog on social bookmarking portals. Here is a list of top social bookmarking websites on Internet :
  • Slashdot
  • Reddit
  • StumbleUpon
  • Delicious
  • Newsle
  • Digg
Check for my list of best high PR social bookmarking websites which I am going to publish soon.
There’s a lot on social media that this. Pinterest is considered to be the second highest traffic generator social media after Facebook. Reddit is called the front page of Internet and has capacity to make any post go viral within hours. Stumbleupon has given high traffic to big websites like ThoughtCatalog.
So make yourself present on social media because being social is what makes people visit you.

How to get organic traffic from search engines for a new blog?

This is what converts the most. Now when I say it converts, I mean visitors who get to your website searching for something are more likely to be customers rather than those who just saw something on their social media newsfeed, kinda liked it, clicked it and left. When people search, they normally mean being there.
But before you think about that, just try searching something on Google and see how it tries to frighten you with the light grey mutli-millionaire warning of its – About 3000000000 results in 0.02 seconds.
Wow! And no matter how well a researcher some reader is, he is hardly going to visit more than 5 websites in those results. And hardly one of them is where he’ll get landed as a customer. So isn’t this frightening?
get quality visitors - blog and money
Now unless if you’re seeking to place yourself on the top using the pocket money that you’ve and spending it on Google Adwords with a bid high enough to get yourself shown out of competition for the keyword, you need to really think a little about what is going to bring you, at least among the first ten results that search engines shows for a certain keyword. Well, basically a simple phrase for this technique is called as SEO, i.e. Search Engine Optimization.
The phrase itself tells what it stands for. It is the technique of seducing search engines to love you and show the same love in return. You create a content that search engine loves, and optimize it in a way that search engine would love to show to its searchers, then that’s it! That’s almost all you need to worry about.
Some of the most important SEO techniques that helps you in rank better among search results are :
  • Creating accurate and optimized titles.
  • Optimizing Meta Description about your content.
  • Properly structuring the URLs.
  • Providing easier navigation to your visitors.
  • Never compromising with the quality of content or service you provide.
  • Optimizing Images for search engine bots.
  • Using Heading Tags Properly.
  • Optimizing blog for all devices – mobile phones, tablets, PC, etc.
  • Using techniques more than tricks.
Now, luckily, you’ve a very awesome SEO guide by Google itself, which tells you what you need to have in order to boost your presence in Search Engine Results . Download the Google’s Guide on SEO here – Ebook. [pdf]
And now when you’ve got a blog, wrote some quality articles, optimized your blog for social media and search engines have perhaps have begun getting traffic (still no satisfying result? Check out how to boost traffic to a new blog fast. ), it’s time to convert your traffic into money.

How To  Monetize A New Blog?

There are a lot of monetization options that bloggers use to make money from their blogs, however, not every blog is suitable for all kinds of monetization tricks. There a lot of factors you must think about before choosing a certain monetizing option :
  • Does your blog talks about shopping?
  • Are your visitors there for learning something?
  • Are you a good teacher or a good seller?
  • Does your blog focuses on entertaining people?
  • Do you let people download things for free?
  • Can you suggest people about ‘this is better, trust me.’?
  • Are your visitors mostly misers?
  • And the most important, are you legal with your content?
There aren’t that many of ad options for publishers with illegal content and if there are some, they are mostly visitor-irritating ones. So depending upon the answers you’ve got for these questions, you can choose the suitable advertisement solution for your blog’s monetization :
1. Traditional Banners : These are the highest used, mostly well paying but meanwhile least relevant monetization solutions for bloggers. Google Adsense and Media.Net are two of the most famous monetization options for bloggers and has been making millionaires for years now. However, these networks are a little irrelevant for those who love same colored furniture in their house. Sometimes, there is a great possibility that Adsense might start showing ‘buy cheap domains’ advertisement on a gossip blog.
2. Native Ads : Native ads are the new big thing on Internet are proving their worth well. It isn’t necessary that ads which you place on your website are relevant to the content you have and sometimes they might be of a totally different niche, but the best part is that these ads don’t seem to be ads at all and can be customized as the basic infrastructure of the blog. Some of the basic types of native ads are :
  • In-Feed Ad Units
  • Search Ads
  • Recommendation Widgets
  • Promoted Listings

3. Affiliate Publishers : This is the big league! Most of the biggest bloggers are making moneyselling someone else’s product or service. This mostly works when you have followers more than mere readers. They need to trust you or at least you need to provide them with some offers which they aren’t going to get anywhere else. Big blogs like ShoutmeloudBlogging Cage and BloggersIdeas are making money through affiliate earning.
4. Sponsored Posts : These are what you wish you could make enough money with and which big websites make the most with either. These are the most relevant, perfect matching and highest paying ad formats but these aren’t something you can do whenever you want, You need to develop yourself big enough to be called a brand so that you can put a post of yours on rent. Big media companies like DigidayBuzzfeed, HuffPost and others make most of their income out of sponsored posts.
Some of the other monetization options are :
5. Premium Membership Options.
6. Selling Tutorials.
7. Selling Products.

So this is how you start a blog, optimize it, and make money out of it. Even though I’ve tried to summarize most of the basic terms that you need to be familiar to as a blogger, there are a lot of terms that I couldn’t explain here, like – Backlinks, Meta Data, Self developed monetization options, pros and cons of different traffic sources and some more such topics.Let me know more about what you wish to know about blogging and online money making.
